About Me

My name is Geoffrey Geddes. I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT98346) and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC4778).

My Training. I earned my master’s degree in counseling psychology from Saybrook University. While at Saybrook, I also enjoyed over two years of professional training, first at Harmony Place, a residential drug treatment facility, and then at The Bella Vita, a wonderful company that provides inpatient and outpatient treatment for eating disorders and related conditions, including anxiety, depression, compulsive behaviors, and self-harm. I am currently working for The Bella Vita as a Counselor.

My Credentials. I’m registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT98346) and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC4778). I’m a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the American Counseling Association (ACA).

My Treatment Philosophy. I use an integrated, humanistic approach to counseling that incorporates methods from a number of therapeutic models, including CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Psychodrama, and Family Systems Therapy. Your healing will not come from me, however; it will come from deep within you. It may take some time before you even believe you can heal, let alone acquire the skills to do so. Be patient. Be kind to yourself. Each of us has extraordinary mental and emotional resources. Some of us just need a little help uncovering our best selves.
