Conceiving Anima

By Geoffrey Geddes

He suckles without shame, oblivious
To separation; rapt in unity.
He dreams of circles and anonymous
Creations that reflect eternity.

He pulls away, the world demanding full
Attention; Mother innocently bars
His exploration, sparking dreams of dull
Reflections coiling under muted stars.

The specters bend and twist beneath the weight
Of nascent shadows cast by unknown forms
So ancient that awareness turns too late
To curb division’s folly; Self is torn.

She dreams of independence; surely breath
Without the man will not result in death.
