The secret to blooming, late or otherwise, is not found in precocious abilities or early accomplishments. Nor is it found by eliminating struggle or pain (an impossible goal).
We bloom when we finally give up our struggle to meet expectations – whether self-imposed or imposed by others. We bloom when we begin to make choices from a place of compassion rather than scarcity. We bloom when we finally realize that the yellow brick road is no more magical than the road leading to the local market. We bloom when we can cook a meal without thinking about having to wash the dishes later, and when we can wash the dishes with a smile. We bloom when we give ourselves permission to bloom.
How about today?
